All certified Biological Safety Cabinets are required to confirm to NSF Criteria for a series of performance attributes agreed upon by industry manufacturers, government agencies and independent users. These attributes include airflow face velocity from outside the cabinet to the interior, downflow velocity from the filter inside the top of the cabinet, and the split between single pass and recirculated air. Additionally, HEPA and/or ULPA filters must be tested for efficiency and safety before installation.
