PCR is shorthand for a simple but very useful procedure in molecular biology called the polymerase chain reaction. It’s a technique used to amplify a segment of DNA of interest or produce many copies.

Many factors can influence the outcome of routine weighing in the laboratory. Whether you’re using a ductless fume hood, glove bag or balance enclosure, here are a few things to consider.

Cleanliness and air filtration are extremely important in maintaining sterility levels in a laboratory. This is just as true for a laminar flow hood or clean bench.

While a biological safety cabinet (biosafety cabinet or BSC) is sometimes referred to as a ductless fume hood, the BSC does not protect from chemical vapors.

Having a strong set of overall laboratory safety rules is essential to avoiding disasters in any lab.
