When it comes to installing and using a fume hood in your laboratory, here are some principal tips and reminders to consider. 

Laboratory biosafety guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) provide guidance on the safe handling of COVID-19 samples within clinical and research laboratories. 

The addition of HEPA and ULPA filtration captures particulates and biological contaminants, and when used in a ductless fume hood, the cabinet is classified as a Class I Biological Safety Cabinet.

COVID-19 infections caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus can be diagnosed using a test that uses a process known as polymerase chain reaction (PCR). 

UV light is one of the proven ways to destroy DNA and RNA characteristic of all life forms. While we wait for a vaccine, Air Science experience in UV technology offers additional opportunities for clinicians and researchers to mitigate contamination.
