Choosing the Best Controller for Your Fume Hood

Depending upon the type of fume hood that is the best fit for your facility, a variety of options may be available when it comes to choosing the control panel for your unit. From a standard control panel that incorporates the basic functions to an optional microprocessor controller to display the fume hood operating parameters, Air Science® can help you choose the optimal controller to best suit your needs and provide the protection that your facility demands.

The standard Air Science controller includes an On/Off switch, Hour Counter with preset alarm intervals for pre-filter and main filter change out and Filter Blockage alarm with visual indication that the filters are beginning to become blocked and airflow may be reduced to unsafe levels.

Optional fume hood controllers include:

FSA/Autocal controller displays the airflow and offers limited detection of low concentrations of hydrocarbon, some gases and organic acids. Audio and visual alarms alert users to filter saturation and if the airflow reaches preset thresholds. An Hour Counter with preset alarm intervals for pre-filter and main filter change out is also included.

The optional Monitair microprocessor controller monitors and displays cabinet airflow and containment, and offers limited detection of low concentrations of hydrocarbon, some gases and organic acids. Audio and visual alerts displayed on an LCD screen, inform the user if conditions become unsafe.

Since a fume hood controller regulates and monitors the airflow and exhaust, it is critical to the protection delivered by the unit itself, as all operators must remain aware of the safety of the system and be alerted immediately if conditions become unsafe. Confidence in the fume hood and the controller provides the peace of mind that is critical to a facility.

Technological advances enhance the function of today's fume hoods, and based upon years of research and development, Air Science continues to deliver high-efficiency fume hoods that offer energy savings, performance and safety. Contact us for more information.
